Day 2 - 3: Athens

Monday 21 September
Arriving in Athens. Coach meet and greet and transfer to the hotel. Ending the day with dinner at our hotel.

Tuesday 22 September
Tours of Athens: The Acropolis, Mars Hill, The Agora, House of Parliament, Presidential Palace, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Breakfast and dinner will be provided, and lunch you’ll purchase as you are out.

Wednesday 23 September
Full-day tour of Corinth: Stand on the Bema, Temple of Apollo, Archaeological Museum and Visit Cenchreae. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Day 7: Cannakkale

Saturday 26 September
Early Morning departure from Kavala, switching coaches to a Turkish coach. Visiting the ANZAC site and beaches of Gallipoli. Then continuing onto Canakkale to stay the night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Day 11 and 12: Istanbul

Wednesday 30 September
Full-day tour of Istanbul including the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia, the underground cistern and the grand bazaar. An evening cruise on the Bosphorus. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Thursday 1 October
Transfer to Cappadocia. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Day 1 - Leaving Aus

Day 5-6: Kavala

Thursday 24 September
Transfer to Thessaloniki.

Friday 25 September
Walking Tour of historical Kavala. Visit Philippi, Byzantine churches and cistern, and the prison of Paul and Silas. The afternoon will be for you to decide at your leisure. Breakfast and dinner are provided.

Days 8 and 10: Izmir

Accommodation: 4 star TBA

Sunday 27 September
Departing from the hotel to travel to Izmir, visiting the Troy archaeological site and museum. Continue to Pergamon and see the Ruins of Pergamum, the Acropolis, the Asklepion, Pergamon Theatre and the Pergamon Museum. We will visit where Polycarp was martyred. Then onto the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Monday 28 September
Day tour of Ephesus. Visit Izmir agora (the ancient part of Smyrna), Ephesus archaeological site, Artemins Temple, the St John church and tomb, then back to the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Tuesday 29 September
Coach transfer to Istanbul, visiting the church where the first ecumenical church council was held, and the Nicene Creed was agreed upon, also visit various ruins and a tile (pottery) market, on the way. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Day 12-14 : Cappadocia

Friday 2 October
Flight to Kayseri. Coach transfer to Cappadocia. Visiting Kaymakii underground city, The Pigeons Valley, Uchisar cave houses, Esentepe panoramic view of Goreme National Park, and Goreme open air. In Cappadocia we will meet the Eastern Orthodox church fathers, including Saint Basil the Great and Saint Gregory. David will give an introduction to Eastern Orthodoxy. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Saturday 3 October
Morning Tour of Museum’s rock churches, Pasabagi Fairy Chimneys valley, Avanos pottery place, Dervent valley and Urgup Fairy Chimneys. Free time in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Sunday 4 October

Return flights to Australia, or wherever else you choose.
